The Bhagwad Geeta and death

The geeta contains the divine nectar, our great sages spread this nectar among us in different ages , different time , and it is always new and teaches the human civilisation to find the path of God , free our soul from the attachment and by self-realisation be the part of supreme soul.it is the immortal song of life,which speaks the glory of soul.

“The soul is glorious, unborn, deathless, free from old age, immortal, and fearless.”

The Geeta tells us that there was life before birth and it will also continues after that. I want to quote here verse 20 of chapter 2 of gita.

                         न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचि
                        न्यायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूय: |
                        अजो नित्य: शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो
                        न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे || 20||

na jayate mriyate va kadacin
nayam bhutva bhavita va na bhuyah |
ajo nityah sasvato 'yam purano
na hanyate hanyamane sarire ||20||

The  soul is never born nor dies ; nor does  it become only after being born. For it is unborn,eternal, everlasting and primeval : even though the body is slain, the soul is not.

The above verses explain eternal nature of Soul, and indicate that life is perpetual, the soul is the driving force of life which never dies. The soul is ever-existing and beyond birth and death.What we call death is merely destruction of body but the immortal self remains unaffected by all bodily changes.Soul never dies it is body which perishes. Upanishads,Vedas also confirm the immortality of soul.

Swami Vivekananda's Lecture in New York about his Master

Krishna declares in Bhagawad-Gita.

"Whenever virtue subsides and vice prevails, I come down to help mankind."

Modern world of ours need adjustment on both planes, the spiritual and the material. In the present era material Ideas are at the height of their glory and power,Today man requires one more adjustment on spiritual plane.Today man is likely to forget his divine nature,through his growing dependence on matter.
the voice has been spoken , and the power is coming to drive away the clouds of gathering  materialism. The power has been set in the motion which at no distant date, will bring unto mankind once more the memory of its real nature,and again the place from which this power will start will be Asia.

Machines never made mankind happy and never will make. He who is trying to make us believe this will claim that happiness is in the machine, but always in the mind. That man alone who is the lord of his mind can become happy, and non else.

SWAMI JI Says :  I am going to present before you the life of one man who has put in motion such a wave in India.But before going into the life of this man ,  I will try to present before you the secret of India, what India means.

If those whose eyes have been blinded by the glamour of material things, whose whole dedication of life is to eating and drinking and enjoying, whose ideal of possession is land and gold, whose ideal of pleasure is that of the senses, whose God is money, and whose goal is a life of ease and comfort and death after that, and who rarely think anything higher than the sense objects in the midst of which they live--If such as they go to India , what do they see? Poverty, Squalor, Superstition, darkness, hideousness everywhere. why? because in their minds enlightenment means dress, education, social politeness.

There live the only men in the world who, in the whole history of humanity, never went beyond their frontiers to conquer anyone. who never coveted that which belonged to anyone else, whose only fault was that their land were so fertile,  and they accumulated wealth by the hard labour of their hands, and so tempted other nations to come and despoil them.

SWAMY VIVEKANANDA EXPLANATION OF ATTACHMENT REFERRING ADI SHANKARACHARYA

  EXPLANATION OF ATTACHMENT BY SHANKARACHARYA

We must not be extremely attached to anything except God.See everything, do everything,but be not attached.As soon as extreme attachment comes,a man loses himself,he is no more master of himself,he is a slave.If a women is tremendously attached to a man,she becomes slave of that man. There is no use in being slave.

There are higher things in this world than being a slave to a human being.Love and Do good to everybody , but do not become a slave. In the First place attachment degenerates us , and in second place, makes us extremely selfish. As a result, we want to injure others to do good to those whom we love.

Most of the wicked deeds done in this world are done through attachment to certain persons. So all attachment except that for good work should be avoided,but Love should be given to everybody.

There is a VERSE , which gives best definition of Bhakti-Yoga

"May that Love undying which the non-discriminating have for the fleeting objects of the senses never leave this heart of mine-of me who seek after thee!"

So in the above prayer the sage says, " I will have that attachment ,that tremendous clinging, only to Thee."

This love when given to God ,is called Bhakti.

Bhakti is not destructive , it teaches us that no one of the faculties we have has been given in vain, that through them is the natural way to come to liberation.

Bhakti does not kill our tendencies , it does not go against nature, but only gives it a higher and more powerful direction.
